Drugs, electricity theft & violence: 3 evicted from Coventry flats Drugs, electricity theft & violence: 3 evicted from Coventry flats

Three troublesome tenants have been evicted from the same block of Coventry flats for a variety of crimes.

Social landlord Whitefriars Housing - which manages around 18,000 homes - is pleased to have restored peace to William Malcolm House in Wyken, and hopes that its tough stance will deter others from anti-social behaviour.

Robert Gardner, 40, was evicted for acts of violence against residents and Whitefriars employees. Adam Whetstone, 30, was evicted for electricity theft, whilst Preenay Chohan, 25, was removed for growing cannabis.

Tony Marsella, who works in Whitefriars’ anti-social behaviour team, said: “I hope that our action is a wake-up call to any other residents who are causing misery and disturbance to others.  We do not tolerate anti-social behaviour.

“We work closely with the police and the courts to tackle nuisance behaviour and would urge any resident who is affected by it to contact either us or the police.  There are a range of actions that can be taken to ensure that people don’t have to suffer.”

In the past six months Whitefriars - which is part of the VM Housing Group - has taken serious action against anti-social behaviour perpetrators, ranging from serving injunctions to securing evictions, on 14 occasions.
