The amazing Two Rivers Housing Association community in Berry Hill managed to raise £253 in just an hour of eating cake, drinking coffee, laughing and joking. They also had a raffle where dozens of residents got involved, through from baking the cakes to scoffing them.
As part of the world’s biggest coffee morning today in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support, Two Rivers set up theirs in Berry Hill to raise as much money for the cause as possible. In 2011, 51,000 people signed up to their individual coffee mornings, and managed to raise a record £10 million.
Two Rivers is a leading non-profit homes organisation operating in Gloucestershire and Herefordshire, providing low cost homes for local people, helping keep communities together in the face of low incomes and high house prices. It is building a brighter future.
Because Two Rivers are a not-for-profit organisation, they realise how important donations are to the people who rely on them, much like Macmillan.
Two Rivers Community Support Worker Sue Reddan who helped organise the event said:
“The Two Rivers community are powered by cake and a real sense of fun. But they really care about their neighbours and the wider community. It’s amazing how they put so much energy into everything they do. All power to the people of Berry Hill,” she said.
