Olympic fever swept across Hollinwood last Saturday as crowds gathered in Limeside Park, Oldham for the Hollinwood Olympics fun day.

Local residents who had been inspired by the Olympics took part in traditional fun races and games including an egg and spoon race and football and winners and participants were presented with special Hollinwood Olympic medals.

The Hollinwood Olympics fun day was free for local residents thanks to a joint project between Contour Homes and Oldham Sports Development and funding from the Big Lottery, Contour Homes and Oldham Council.

Families could enjoy the last weekend of a summer of sport with fair rides, go-karts and donkey rides as well as plenty of free activities including; henna painting, face painting and arts and crafts.

Sarah Furbey, Contour Homes Community Development worker said: “We’ve all been inspired by the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games and this was a fantastic opportunity for members of the local community to get together for a great day of fun and games”
