Long Service Awards 2012 Long Service Awards 2012

Lewes based Southdown was in celebratory mood this week following a ceremony to thank 17 staff who have worked for the organisation for over 10 years.  The long serving employees join 96 other employees who have already passed a decade working for Southdown.

Southdown employs over 800 staff providing support and housing services to over 5000 disabled and vulnerable people across Sussex.

Southdown Chief Executive, Aideen Jones, who herself has served 23 years at the not-for-profit company, hosted the event and said:

“Their time, commitment, and work ethic have helped greatly to build this association. With our collective efforts, we've created an organisation that provides high quality services and has a reputation for compassion, innovation and professionalism.”

Earlier this year Southdown achieved a top 25 finish in the Times Top 100 not-for-profit companies to work for.  The awards list companies for their performance in 8 key indicators - management, leadership, company quality, staff development, teamwork, fair deal for staff, social responsibility and well-being.

Vikki Hayward-Cripps, the Executive Director for Business at Southdown, said:

“We have worked hard to make sure that staff enjoy working here and we are as flexible and supportive as possible to help people manage their lives in and out of work.

“Southdown has a hardworking but gentle and respectful culture and we believe all staff should be stretched and developed to meet both their own potential and the changing needs of the business.

“Our longer serving staff provide stability and continuity – especially important when many of our vulnerable clients prefer familiar faces – and their experience is highly valued.”
