Job seekers flooded into Oldham Rugby Club in Hollinwood, Oldham on Wednesday to take advantage of the Hollinwood Jobs and Opportunities Fair. The event was aimed at unemployed adults and those wishing to make a career change.

The Jobs Fair, funded by a partnership between Contour Homes, part of Symphony Housing Group, The Regenda Group and Great Places Housing Group was a huge success and local employers and training providers were delighted with the response.

Those who attended the fair were given the opportunity to sign up to local courses and get career advice from providers including: Job Centre Plus, Hopwood Hall College, Hays Recruitment, Lifelong Learning, Oldham Council, Oldham Wellbeing service, YMCA, Sports Development, Blue Orchid, Oldham college, Rathbones  Smart Care and Positive Steps.

Event organiser Sarah Furbey from Contour Homes said: “It’s been a great success. We had over 40 job seekers through our doors today talking to employers, signing up to recruitment agencies and having one-to-one advice sessions. The feedback we have had from both employers and attendees has been universally positive.

“We would like to thank all the providers for giving up their time to come and talk to Hollinwood residents about their services.  We would also really like to thank the residents that attended.”

Local resident at the event, Tom Williams said: “I really enjoyed the event and have got lots of information and leaflets to read.”

Local resident, Gill Charmaine said: “I am starting an ITQ course with Oldham College next Tuesday after getting advice from the Jobs Fair event.”
