The Tidy Team The Tidy Team

As part of the Keep Britain Tidy campaign, a team of local youngsters joined forces with Friendship Care and Housing’s Neighbourhood team (Friendship) in the ‘The Big Tidy Up’ recently.

The volunteers, were provided with safety equipment by Derby Streetpride and then set about collecting up rubbish and litter from around Crewton Gardens in Derby.  Their enthusiasm and sterling efforts saw 15 bags of rubbish pile up as well as a discarded duvet cover and pillows, an old car tyre, paint pots and even a Christmas tree!

After the litter pick, everyone met up in the community room for well earned drinks and biscuits and as way of a thank you for their hard work, all the volunteers received a goody bag to take home.

Jess Summerfield, Neighbourhood Impact Assistant, one of the organisers, said “Our community tidy up has proved a fantastic success, everyone involved including staff could see that the kids really enjoyed the day.”
