Santa made a special appearance in Halton last weekend to the delight of children from Widnes and Runcorn.

The Christmas event was organised by West Bank Community Forum in Widnes, with a £400 funding boost from social housing provider, Riverside, and support from St Marys Church, local councillors, West Bank School and Halton Borough Council Community Development.

Lorna Hughes is Riverside’s community initiatives officer.  She said:  “We are always keen to provide opportunities for neighbours to get together, especially around Christmas time.  Everyone had lots of fun and plenty of Christmas cheer.”

The Christmas bonanza took place near the Catalyst Museum, with boat lights, festive stalls, Christmas carols, Santa’s grotto and a reindeers’ parade through the streets of West Bank.
