A troublesome grandson who featured on national television is now behind bars after being handed a record prison sentence.
The antics of Darren Heywood watched by millions of viewers on Neighborhood Watched as he caused trouble at his grandmother’s house on Hough Lane, Hyde.
But now Heywood, formerly of Yew Tree Lane, Dukinfield, is serving two six month prison sentences after breaching injunctions that stated he was not allowed to return to his grandmother’s address.
District Judge Stockton sitting at Tameside County Court found him guilty of the injunction on March 31st and a warrant was issued for his committal to prison.
A previous six month suspended sentence for breaches of the injunction was activated and Heywood handed a further six month sentence.
Heywood is expected to serve six months of the sentence, which is the longest ever handed down in a New Charter application for nuisance behaviour.
New Charter’s Senior Tenancy Enforcement Officer, Alan Kibble, said: “The length of the sentence reflects the fact that Heywood made life such a misery for those around him. Those people can now rest, knowing that Heywood is safely behind bars where his behavior will no longer be a threat to them.
“It should serve as a warning to others that New Charter takes a tough stance on anti social behaviour.”
