Students from RFDC will soon embark on a mentoring programme with Two Rivers Housing and ISG Pearce as part of their Construction courses.
The housing association in partnership with ISG Pearce have recently signed a four-year framework agreement to provide 100 new homes a year for the duration of the partnership. As part of this exciting partnership both organisations have agreed to act as mentors to construction students from the local area, who are undertaking the college’s Construction qualifications.
Vicki Wright, Head of Development and Homeownership said:
“We’re proud to be joining forces with the RFDC to deliver this exciting programme. We are eager to share our knowledge and skills with learners who have shown an interest in the construction industry. This is a unique opportunity for the students to gain valuable first-hand insight from two experienced and forward thinking organisations.”
RFDC construction students will have the opportunity to work alongside ISG Pearce as they undertake Two Rivers’ Cornish homes redevelopment project throughout the Forest of Dean. Full time Level 2 students in Bricklaying, Carpentry, Plumbing and Electrical will be placed with contractors once a week throughout their course.
This programme will also include talks from professionals within Two Rivers’ project team, site visits and workshops for Forest partnership school students so they can gain valuable knowledge for their Construction and Built Environment Diploma.
“This programme will help students interact with employers and the community and provide them with valuable experience which will help them gain their qualification and possibly employment” said Dave Auker-Howlett.
