Pedal power: young people enjoy the fun day Pedal power: young people enjoy the fun day

Scalextrics, healthy food, junk modelling and a mass litter pick marked a week of action for Immingham residents as they joined Shoreline and partner organisations for a three day community clean-up and family fun day.

Shoreline Housing Partnership worked alongside resident groups and partner agencies including Immingham Ward Councillors who provided £1000 in Community Pride and Ward Council funding for the event.

Street sweepers, litter pickers and recycling games helped to clean up the town’s Reed Meer estate while the council’s waste management team promoted their ‘love food, hate waste’ campaign.

As well as a general street clean, skips were provided for metal clearance and for residents to get rid of their bulky waste.

The week was rounded off in style with a celebratory free family fun day where young people and their families enjoyed a jam-packed day of fun activities including Scalextrics, junk modelling, competitions, go-karts and healthy cooking demonstrations while meeting partner agencies and organisations.

Shoreline used the week to promote neighbourhood strength and the correct disposal of waste while encouraging residents to take pride in their community.

Shoreline project officer Sally Russell said: “This project aims to create a better, cleaner environment and greater community cohesion for residents.”
