Boris Johnson, the Mayor of London and Chair of the Metropolitan Police Authority, has thanked the INJP and is keen to be kept informed of the work of the INJP and key
developments.

The INJP is a professional practitioner-led organisation supporting the development and representation of multi-agency neighbourhood justice practitioners, case workers and managers.  Membership is free to any Neighbourhood Justice Professional.

A Neighbourhood Justice Professional is any practitioner at any level working within the following fields:

• Children's & Families
• Education

 The INJP has been formed to work with the Privy Council Office to move towards chartered status for its membership as well as providing immediate benefits to members of the Institution.

 The aims of the institute are:

• Professionalise multi-agency case working in neighbourhood justice.
• Champion victims and witness services
• Provide and develop relevant recognised UK based qualifications in the field of neighbourhood justice for both the civil and criminal justice proceedings to meet the application for the Royal Charter.
• Represent members in government consultations.
• Influence national policy and practice makers.
• Through Academy Programmes support the professional development of neighbourhood justice and community safety practitioners from all agencies and organisations.
• Promote joint case working amongst relevant agencies and networks in the UK and with other relevant international partners.
• Provide media briefings to represent the membership.
• Treat third and voluntary sector workers in this field as professional equals in neighbourhood justice case working and management.
• Manage and make available a register of competent and qualified neighbourhood justice case workers and managers for employers to access.
• Provide charitable educational bursaries and accredited training programmes.
• Work in collaboration with members of the Institute, educational providers, Government agencies, third sector bodies and approved private sector organisations for the pursuance of the aims of the Institute
