The innovative and unique Cambridge pub guide in the form of a pack of cards

A team from Taylor Vinters solicitors has launched Pocket Pubs, a unique pub guide that they will sell to raise money for leading disability charity, Papworth Trust. The cards will be available to buy at the CAMRA Cambridge Beer Festival from Wednesday 20 May.

Pocket Pubs is an innovative guide to all the pubs in Cambridge in the form of a packet of traditional playing cards which also doubles as a competitive "Pocket Pub Statistics" game. Each card in the pack features a pub in Cambridge showing a photo, short description, fascinating fact and a series of Pocket Pub Statistics including capacity, outside seating, numbers of beers and wines and in addition a series of icons highlighting the features of the pub.

The idea was proposed by the Taylor Vinters team as part of the Grand Challenge, the ‘Apprentice style’ fundraising competition from Papworth Trust. As part of the competition, Taylor Vinters teams also produced and sold waterproof bike seat covers and ran a lucky sixes dice competition raising over £5000.

Cambridge is the first town to have Pocket Pubs but its founders, Tim Hill and Michael Colledge, plan to roll out the initiative throughout the United Kingdom.

Tim Hill, marketing manager at Taylor Vinters says: "At £5.99 the pack of cards has to be one of the best deals in Cambridge for pub lovers. Pocket Pubs is a comprehensive guide to 65 pubs in the city, and contains free vouchers for a pint at The Punter and a Mojito at the Snug which in themselves are worth nearly £10. We have already taken advance orders and with all the profits from this edition going to support leading disability charity, Papworth Trust, we are hoping for a sell out."

Notes to Editors

Pocket Pubs are being sold for £5.99 with all profits from the first edition going to Papworth Trust to promote equality, choice and independence for disabled people. Papworth Trust helps over 13,000 disabled people in the East of England and the UK through a wide range of services covering employment, vocational rehabilitation, housing and personal support.

Thanks to the support of the Punter pub and Snug Bars, each pack contains vouchers for a free Mojito and a free pint of cask ale helping you save money and enjoy Cambridge. Also, the cards were designed free of charge by Mobas a Cambridge-based integrated advertising agency who offer creativity, media planning, media buying, design and website design and printing work was done at a reduced rate by Blue Print of Cambridge.

Pocket Pubs cards will be on sale at selected pubs including The Snug, The Punter, The Hat and Feathers, The Old Spring, The Portland Arms, The Six Bells, The Cambridge Blue, The Dobblers, and The Salisbury Arms, and can be ordered online at www.pocketpubs.co.uk
