People in Newham are invited to get into the festive spirit by going along to the switching on of the Christmas lights.
Mayor of Newham Sir Robin Wales has been invited to turn on the illuminations in East Ham on November 25 and Stratford on November 26.
In East Ham there will be fireworks, carols will be sung by Newham Academy of Music and there will be a visit from Father Christmas from 5.30pm to 6.15pm at the corner of High Street North and St John’s Road. The event is supported by East Ham traders.
The Stratford illuminations will be switched on from the Old Town Hall, Broadway. A choir from Maryland Primary School will be singing carols around the Christmas tree from 5pm with the lights going on at around 5.40pm.
The event is sponsored by Stratford Street Traders Association, Stratford City developers Westfield, the Railway Tavern pub and Stratford Town Centre Management.
Mayor Sir Robin Wales said: “It is always a pleasure to turn on the Christmas lights and to watch children enjoy the beginning of the festive season. I would like to thank the young people
who will be singing and those who have sponsored the events. I am sure they will be joyous occasions.”
