A Salford man has been evicted from his flat after his abusive late night visitors caused nuisance for neighbours for over a year.

Christopher Dyson, aged 42, of Grosvenor Road, Walkden, was ordered by a judge at Salford County Court to vacate his property within 28 days after he admitted being involved in 40 incidents of anti-social behaviour.

Neighbours made complaints against Dyson between April 2007 and May 2008. They reported being continuously woken up at all hours of the night after hearing people shouting for Dyson to come out of his first floor flat, kicking in his door and smashing windows costing New Prospect Housing around £3,500.

They also noted Dyson banging on his own front door in the early hours of the morning while shouting abuse at people inside his flat to let him in and people running through a neighbour's garden at the back of the flat.

Neighbours reported having to repair a communal fence after it was destroyed by people staying in Dyson's flat, allegedly while he was away.

Dyson, a New Prospect tenant, was interviewed by council staff five times about the complaints made against him, but as he made no efforts to change his behaviour, a notice seeking possession was served upon him in November.

Councillor Peter Connor, lead member for housing at Salford City Council said: "Eviction is a last resort however Dyson had been given a number of chances to change his behaviour which he failed to do.

"As a tenant, Dyson has a duty to be a responsible neighbour whcih includes making sure people who visit his home do not act anti-socially towards other residents."

Added Councillor David Lancaster, lead member for community safety at the council: "This is an example of how the community has pulled together to do something about a noisy neighbour who was affecting their quality of life.

"We will do everything we can to put a stop to behaviour which causes misery to neighbours."
