On Friday 23 May 2008, Three Valleys Housing is taking part in Silver Surfers’ Day, offering people aged over 50 in Erewash an opportunity to find out more about the internet. From 10.00am until 4.00pm, Silver Surfers will be able to surf the internet for free and try a number of taster sessions at Three Valleys’ offices at Bramley Road, Long Eaton.
Jim Rowe, ICT Manager at Three Valleys Housing, said: “Whether it is researching family history, finding old school friends, paying bills, accessing services or contacting your MP, the internet has much to offer. Older people have a lot to gain from the internet and we’re pleased to be able to offer this opportunity for them to find out more. Whether you have never used a computer before or you’re a regular surfer who just wants a few hints and tips, we will have something for everyone.
“We expect that the sessions will be very popular so we would ask anyone who wants to come along to call us on 0844 770 3500 or drop us a line at silversurfer@threevalleyshousing.com.
“We know from a recent survey that only 18% of our residents have access to the internet so this is an ideal opportunity for us to address that.”
