More than 160 people attended the Health and Hackney event held at Princess May Primary School, Hackney, on 23 February, which featured fun for all the family and information on health services in the borough.

It had been organised by the Council's Health in Hackney Scrutiny Commission, and Members spent the day talking with residents on health matters.

Councillor Jonathan McShane, Chair of the Health in Hackney Scrutiny Commission, said: “The event was a real credit to everyone involved - Hackney residents found out about all the health services available locally, got information about healthier lifestyles and had loads of fun in the process.

“They also took the opportunity to let us know their views on the NHS in Hackney which is really valuable information for us.

“The clear message I got from residents is that Hackney needs more events like this.”

The event was organised by Hackney Council in partnership with the City and Hackney Teaching Primary Care Trust, Homerton University NHS Foundation Trust Hospital and East London NHS Foundation Trust.

Scrutiny Commissions are made up of Councillors who work across party political lines and investigate issues of local concern.

The Health in Hackney Scrutiny Commission considers health service matters and makes reports and recommendations to healthcare providers.
