Help is at hand for first time buyers

‘Access to Home Ownership’ is a government backed scheme to encourage first time buyers and boost home ownership in the regeneration areas of central Liverpool.
The aim of the service, which is free, is to assist local people seeking to achieve the goal of home ownership and helps them to access home ownership information such as the process involved in buying your home on the open market.
The scheme can help and support people throughout the home buying process and help to make sure the right information is available to them from the beginning.
If a suitable property is located in a regeneration area of the city, Access to Home Ownership could pay the initial costs of buying the home, which could include a mortgage arrangement fee, a valuation fee and legal costs.
The scheme offers the right support to make informed decisions and has links with banks, mortgage advisors and solicitors to offer crucial advice to help access a first home.
The scheme was originally piloted in the L1 postcode and later L8. Due to its success in these areas helping local people buy their first home, the scheme has secured additional funding to extend the service to the whole of the Liverpool regeneration area.
Ross Cope, the Project Officer for Access to Home Ownership, explained “We can provide information about buying a home and give help with every step along the way; even helping those who qualify, to pay the expensive fees you can incur when buying your own home.”
