A delegation from Salisbury District Council is visiting local government minister, Phil Woolas, tomorrow (Tue 19 June) to put our case against a new unitary authority for Wiltshire.

The delegation includes: Acting Chief Executive David Crook, council leader Cllr Paul Sample, deputy council leader Cllr Steve Fear, council chairman Cllr Bobbie Chettleburgh, deputy group leader of the Labour group, Cllr Paul Clegg, and Mark Wareham of UNISON.

Cllrs Clegg and Chettleburgh will be going to London earlier in the day for a 'People say No' press conference at the House of Commons where they will be joined by councillors from across the country who are speaking out against local government reform and the bids to create 16 new unitary authorities.

The rest of the SDCdelegation will join Cllrs Clegg and Chettleburgh in London at the DCLG (Department of Communities and Local Government) for a meeting with minister Phil Woolas at 5.45pm.
