COMMUNITY ARTS PROJECT FUNDS ANIMAL MOSAICS

Mosaics created by the Winterbourne Brownies troupe will be presented to the Endell Veterinary Surgery, 49 Endless Street, Salisbury on Tuesday 10 April at 4pm.

The mosaics were created as a ‘thank you’ to the vets at the surgery for the advice they provide to the Brownies on animal care.

The Brownies spent two enjoyable Saturday mornings at the Glebe Hall in Winterbourne in January designing and making the mosaics of a range of animals and reptiles.

The project was planned by the Brownies’ Group Leader, Heather Shepherd, Salisbury District Council’s Principal Arts Officer, Rachel Efemey and Newton Tony-based mosaic artist, Joanna Dewfall.

The project was part of the countywide Participatory Arts Workshops in Wiltshire (PAWS) scheme that offers participatory arts projects, run by professional artists, to local community groups. In south Wiltshire the scheme is run by Salisbury District Council and is primarily aimed at groups based in rural parts of the district.

Rachel Efemey said; “With Joanna’s help, the girls produced some fantastic mosaics which, I am delighted to say, will now be seen by everyone who visits the Endell Veterinary Surgery.

“This is a great example of how the PAWS scheme can help people to work alongside professional artists to produce vibrant and interesting work.”
