HUNDREDS of people flocked to frolic in the snow at a winter wonderland fun day in Wolverhampton.
More than 400 visitors went along to enjoy a skating rink, snow machine, and DJ workshop, as part of the fun day at Codsall Village Hall, Wolverhampton Road, Codsall.
People who didn’t want to brave the snowflakes were treated to a host of indoor activities, including face painting, a tombola and health and safety displays from groups, including Staffordshire Fire & Rescue Service, the Staffordshire Primary Care Trust, South Staffordshire Council and the Carers’ Association Southern Staffordshire, as well as a number of local businesses, including Lloyds pharmacy.
The event was organised by South Staffordshire Housing Association to raise awareness of the services and activities available to residents.
Elaine Mitchell-Wallace, resident and community involvement manager at South Staffordshire Housing Association, said she was delighted with the response.
Mrs Mitchell-Wallace said: “We were kept busy all day and everyone had great fun.
“One lady said to me afterwards, ‘I’ve lived in Codsall for 20 years and I’ve never seen anything like this. When can you do it again?’
“For me, that was the quote of the day – it made all the hard work worthwhile, knowing that people were having such a good time.”
Mrs Mitchell-Wallace said she hoped that more fun days would be organised by the association in the future.
She said: “It was a great day, and we had such an excellent response, we’d love to do it again.”
