A new display at Charnwood Museum takes a look at the food packaging of the past and present. ‘What’s For Dinner?’ shows the wide range of food products made in places all over the world and readily available to eat in Loughborough.

The display looks at locally produced food from the Charnwood area such as the Wicked Hathern Brewery and Stonehurst Family Farm in Mountsorrel. Other issues included are organic farming, fairtrade and healthy eating awareness.

A recent project at Charnwood Museum has actively collected a selection of today’s food packaging and restaurant menus, so that the museum will be able to show future generations the food that was available in 2007 in and around Loughborough. Food packaging from the past, taken from the Leicestershire County Council’s museum collections, is also on display.

A children’s colouring competition will be running throughout the half term school holiday with prizes to be won.

‘What’s For Dinner?’ will be on display at Charnwood Museum from 10th February to 30th May, 2007.
