A new initiative to boost the skills of adults has been launched in St. Helens.

Foundation Stones will help men and women back into learning and improve their skills for life, opening up new opportunities for them and giving them a better chance of gaining employment or moving them on in employment.

Funded by the Neighbourhood Renewal Fund, Foundation Stones aims to improve skills for life, including literacy and numeracy by providing courses which are fun and based on people's interests. Courses will range from taster sessions to 10 week courses, all of which are free of charge.  The courses are being delivered in local community venues through St.Helens Council’s Adult and Community Learning team which provides numerous learning opportunities for people of all ages throughout the Borough.

Residents aged 19 and over and living in the following Neighbourhood Renewal areas are eligible: Four Acre, Gerards Lane, Fingerpost, Parr Stocks Road, Tickle Avenue, Peasley Cross, town centre, Ashtons Green, Fleet Lane, Portico, Wargrave, Waring Avenue,
