DON'T MISS YOUR CHANCE TO VOTE!
Published by webmaster for Salisbury District Council in Communities
Anyone who will not be able to get to their polling station for the local elections on 3 May has until 18 April to register to vote by post or until 25 April to nominate a proxy – i.e. someone to vote on their behalf – or risk losing their vote.
And new legislation this year means that anyone voting by post or proxy must provide a specimen signature and a note of their date of birth.
By the end of January, details will be sent to all those who are currently registered as postal or proxy voters informing them of the new legislation. They will need to carefully check the details provided and supply their date of birth and a signature.
Anyone refusing to supply the appropriate information will have their postal/proxy vote cancelled.
New applications for postal or proxy votes can be made in person at Pennyfarthing House, 18 Pennyfarthing Street, Salisbury. Forms are also available by post from the Electoral Services Team, Salisbury District Council, PO Box 2117, Salisbury SP2 2DS or by telephoning the helpline on 01722 434665.
