Highway infrastructure improvement works to begin at Garrison

To support the development of Colchester Garrison a number of trees are due to be removed with works scheduled to start on Monday 30 October.
The removal of some trees will take place in the area of Flagstaff Road and Napier Road, and will include Horse Chestnut, London Plane, Lime, Cherry, Holly and Yew. Their removal will allow highway improvements to take place within the Garrison site as set out in the outline planning permission legal agreement.
Councillor Elizabeth Blundell. Portfolio Holder for Planning and Strategic Transportation, said: "While it is unfortunate to be losing these trees this work is necessary to ensure we have a good transport link for the new development at the Garrison. We have been working with the developers to make sure as few trees as possible are affected."
The decision to remove a small selection of the trees was considered at a planning committee on 5 October.
