Unlocking the Museum's secrets
Published by webmaster for Chesterfield Borough Council in Communities
A new touchscreen interactive computer terminal that will throw new light on hidden treasures of Chesterfield has been unveiled at Chesterfield Museum.
The kiosk has been sponsored by Chesterfield Scarsdale Rotary in celebration of the centenary of Rotary International and the Silver Jubilee of the Chesterfield Scarsdale Club in 2005.
At present, the kiosk shows a programme on the past and present of Rotary International and Chesterfield Scarsdale and some of the many achievements of the movement that has as its motto ‘Service above Self’.
Further presentations on different aspects of Chesterfield’s history and items from the museum collections which are not normally on show to the public, will be added in the next few months.
Cllr Keith Lomas, support member for the Borough Council's Leisure Services, said: “We are very grateful for the Rotary Club’s generous sponsorship for this project. This new equipment will enable us to show some of the fascinating items from the Museum stores which people are not currently able to see.”
The museum is open from 10am to 4pm every day except Wednesdays and Sundays and admission is free.
