Making your voice heard
Published by webmaster for Salisbury District Council in Communities
Salisbury District Council is launching a new on-line citizens’ panel to give local people the opportunity to have their say on a variety of topics.
The council is looking for around 600 people who are willing to take part in email and web-based surveys. These surveys will examine a wide range of topical local issues – not just issues related to council services. They will be short and snappy, varied and interesting.
Steve Milton, Principal Democratic Services Officer at the district council said: “Panellists don’t even need their own computer to join up as they can use computers free of charge at council offices and libraries.
“Postcards and mobile phone text messages will be sent to panel members to alert them when a new survey is on its way. Results will be published online, so panellists can keep in touch with how their views are helping to shape the future of south Wiltshire.”
Everyone who registers an interest in joining the panel will be entered into a draw to win an iPOD and there will be exciting draws with each consultation to encourage a good response.
Cllr Sara Willan, Salisbury District Council deputy portfolio holder for Resources said; “Listening to local people is vitally important and is a key part of helping us to plan appropriate policies for the district.
This is an exciting new development that offers another way for people to make their voice heard and help to influence the future of Salisbury and surrounding areas.”
Anyone can register to join the panel by emailing voice@salisbury.gov.uk or by writing to: The Consultation Team, Salisbury District Council, Bourne Hill, Salisbury, SP1 3UZ.
