What promises to be a ‘must see’ extravaganza of music and theatre in the Salisbury area starts with the award-winning Salisbury Tourist Information Centre (TIC).

The TIC has joined forces with the Salisbury Playhouse and Mayflower Theatre in Southampton to offer some wonderful competition prizes to promote the Information Centre's role as ticket agents for local theatres and shows.

Two people can win tickets to see a performance of their choice at the Playhouse until the end of November. The prize also includes a meal for two with a complimentary bottle of house wine at the Playhouse Restaurant. To win, entrants have to correctly answer the question: 'Which Russian city is the setting for Salisbury Playhouse's new musical ‘Two Cities’?

In addition to ‘Two Cities’, which was specially commissioned from Howard Goodall, the main theatre features ‘Corpse!’, a murder mystery farce set in London in the 1930s and ‘A Woman of no Importance’ by Oscar Wilde. Meanwhile, the Salberg Studio plays host to ‘Bliss’, ‘The Mad Woman in the Attic’, ‘God is a DJ’, ‘The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe’ and ‘The Night Shift’.

For families, the Mayflower is offering four sets of four tickets to a number of exciting shows this season, including Buddy, Dora the Explorer, Tracy Beaker and White Christmas. This competition is especially for children who simply have to draw a picture of their favourite theatre character. There are four age categories: up to 5, 6-8, 9-12 and 13-16. Entries should include the name, address, contact number and the age of child.

Closing date for entries to both competitions is 24 September 2006. Entry forms for both competitions are available from the Information Centre in Fish Row at the rear of the Guildhall.

A special window display in Salisbury Library in Market Walk celebrates the partnership between the TIC and our local theatres. As ticket agents for the Salisbury Playhouse, City Hall and Southampton’s Mayflower Theatre the TIC has details of all the forthcoming season’s productions as well as providing a free booking service.

For further information on any of the services provided by the Information Centre visit the TIC at 1 Fish Row or contact them on 01722 334956 or email them at visitorinfo@salisbury.gov.uk
