Israel is planning on building a new settlement in the West Bank in "honour" of the three teenagers who were recently murdered.

Speaking to Radio 4's Today programme this morning, Dani Dayan, chief foreign envoy of the Yesha Council, said that building a new settlement would be the correct countermeasure to the murders.

Dayan, whose Yesha Council represents the interests of settlers living on the West Bank, claimed that building new Israeli homes on the occupied terroritories would send a message that "terrorist acts had consequences".

The bodies of the three murdered teenaged boys, who disappeared while hitchiking several weeks ago, were discovered last week.

Israel has blamed the group Hamas for the murders, though the organisation has denied any part in the killings.

Since the boys disappeared, Israel has arrested hundreds of people in the West Bank and launched a series of airstrikes against dozens of targets in the West Bank.

Israeli soldiers shot and killed Yousouf Ibrahim, 16, as they raided Jenin refugee camp.

There have also been a number of 'revenge' attacks against Palestinians by Israeli citizens since the murders.

Sanabel Mohammed Tus, 9, was reportedly run over by an Israeli settler on Sunday night near Bethlehem. The driver then allegedly threw her into a hole in a nearby field.
