Committee and Miliband keen on national investment bank for social housing
MPs from the Communities and Local Government Committee have made a number of recommendations to tackle the housing crisis, including establishing a housing investment bank to channel investment into housing.
Clive Betts, Chair of the CLG Committee, said: “Expanding the Green Investment Bank to cover housing would be one way of achieving this.”
The recommendation is similar to one floated by Labour Leader Ed Miliband last year.
Mr Miliband said: "It's something we're looking at. It's an interesting idea. It's something Ed [Balls] and I have talked about. It's definitely an idea worth exploring."
The Communities and Local Government Committee found that wider vision on housing finance was essential to provide sufficient new homes.
