Insititute of Neighbourhood Justice Professionals
The Institute of Neighbourhood Justice Professionals is delighted to announce that Trevor Kennett has agreed to become interim Chair of the Board of Trustees.
Trevor said "I am delighted to assist the INJP with it's formation and move to Chartered status with the appointments of an interim board of trustees".
His role will also involve discussion with key partners and Government departments around neighbourhood justice.
Trevor is a National expert in anti-social behaviour, restorative justice, crime prevention and the justice system including services for victims and witnesses.
The INJP is currently seeking from its members nominations to form the Interim Board of Trustees.
The INJP is a professional practitioner-led organisation supporting the development and representation of multi-agency neighbourhood justice case workers and managers. The Institute does not allow organisational, affiliate or corporate membership and only allows individual practitioners to join the Institute. The INJP now has over 2000 members.
It has been formed to work with the Privy Council Office to be able to move towards chartered status for its membership as well as providing immediate benefits to members of the Institution. The INJP is free to join.
The aims of the INJP are to:
- Professionalise multi-agency case working in neighbourhood justice.
- Champion victims and witness services
- Provide and develop relevant recognised UK based qualifications in the field of neighbourhood justice for both the civil and criminal justice proceedings to meet the application for the Royal Charter.
- Represent members in government consultations.
- Influence national policy and practice makers.
- Through Academy Programmes support the professional development of neighbourhood justice and community safety practitioners from all agencies and organisations.
- Promote joint case working amongst relevant agencies and networks in the UK and with other relevant international partners.
- Provide media briefings to represent the membership.
- Treat third and voluntary sector workers in this field as professional equals in neighbourhood justice case working and management.
- Manage and make available a register of competent and qualified neighbourhood justice case workers and managers for employers to access.
- Provide charitable educational bursaries and accredited training programmes.
- Work in collaboration with members of the Institute, educational providers, Government agencies, third sector bodies and approved private sector organisations for the pursuance of the aims of the Institute
