Bankers get green-fingered to make a difference

LifeWorks staff and customers with the team from Lloyds bank
Members of the Lloyds bank team swapped financial management systems for spades, when they helped out at a project for adults with learning disabilities at Bullroyd allotments in Bradford.
Staff from the Bradford, Keighley and Horsforth branches of Lloyds Bank joined LifeWorks customers to transform an overgrown area into raised beds and pathways.
Lifeworks Manager Carlo Moorhouse said: “Some customers we support also bank with Lloyds and therefore this was an ideal opportunity for both staff and customers to work alongside one another in a relaxed environment to get to know each other better.”
The Lloyds team volunteered as part of the bank’s ‘A day to make difference’ scheme.
Customer Service Advisor Tracey Burns organised the day. Tracey said: ”We’ve all had a brilliant day getting to know the LifeWorks customers, it was a lot of fun and something very different to our day to day jobs. It’s helped our team to understand better the needs of customers with learning disabilities. It’s made us mindful of how we can do those little things to better accommodate customers with disabilities in-branch.”
Yorkshire Housing’s LifeWorks offers a mixture of group based activities and one-to-one support packages tailored to meet customer interests, needs and aspirations in life. The service also focuses on supporting it’s customers to improve their life and social skills in a creative and supportive environment.
