Lancashire-based Progress Care Housing Association has been held up as the UK’s best Supported Living provider at the Independent Specialist Care Awards 2014.

The Independent Specialist Care Awards, organised by Laing Buisson, recognise the best performing private and voluntary sector providers working in the provision of social care and support services for adults with learning or physical disabilities or mental health conditions whether that be in residential care, homecare or specialist hospitals.

Progress Care Housing Association, which ispart of Progress Housing Group, was presented with the Supported Living award at a prestigious ceremony in London on Wednesday 12th March. The award celebrates innovation and excellence in providing supported living.

Progress Care Housing Association was commended for its provision of high quality housing for individuals with a range of support needs, which enables over 3,000 people with learning and physical disabilities, and those experiencing mental health problems, to lead fulfilling and dignified lives in their own homes.

Over the last 14 years Progress Care Housing Association has continually expanded the number of homes it provides from supporting 90 tenants in 1999 to over 3,000 in 2014. The specialist supported housing provider works in over 100 Local Authority areas and with more than 100 support providers. Progress Care Housing Association is also the housing management provider for the award-winning Leeds Independent Living Accommodation Company (LiLAC).  This involves managing 343 units of accommodation in Leeds for people with mental health needs or learning disabilities, as well as four schemes for children. It also manages a women’s refuge, which provides secure accommodation for eight women and 16 children escaping domestic abuse.
