The collection of green recycling bins in Leeds is due to start again in the next few days.
Recycling waste has not been collected since strike action began in the city at the beginning of September, sparked by a dispute over pay.
Leeds City Council said an "overwhelming response" to adverts for temporary staff meant collections could start "almost immediately" with the disposal of recycling from a small number of bins across the city.
The council said only a small number would be collected as a sample to see what ordinary rubbish may have ended up among recycling during the industrial action.
From November 16, recycling is scheduled to be collected at least once a month and a one-off collection of brown bins for garden waste will take place as soon as possible. Residents will be informed by letter of the changes.
Councillor James Monaghan, executive board member with responsibility for refuse collection said: "For obvious reasons, since the strike began, we've had to prioritise black bin collections.
"However, given the success of our recruitment of temporary workers, we're now able to begin green bin collections once again.
"With the amazing response - 500 people have applied for those
jobs - we've been able to bring forward our plans to send crews out
on recycling routes."
