Croydon - winner of London's only economic Beacon Award - is holding an open day on 15 October 2009 to help other councils emulate its success.

The open day will comprise a series of workshops to showcase good practice in Croydon in areas including:
• the new Economic Development Company
• the Croydon Town Centre Business Improvement District (BID)
• Economic Development Assessment and Strategy
• Croydon's Economic Development Partnership
• Croydon's Urban Regeneration Vehicle (URV)
• Business support and the Croydon Enterprise programme
• Worklessness and Croydon's work with JobCentre Plus

The event, to be held in Croydon, is attracting delegates from around the country with a professional interest in economic development - from council officers/members, economic development partnerships and agencies, Business Link representatives and even some from the voluntary and community sector.

Croydon is one of only four authorities in the country to be awarded Beacon status for ‘raising economic prosperity through partnership' (and the only one in London or the south).
