Police commend Camden CCTV operators
Three public safety CCTV operators working for Camden Council have been commended by Camden police for their help in convicting drug dealers in Camden Town.
They were presented with awards by Chief Superintendent Dominic Clout, Camden’s Borough Commander, on Friday 27 March at Camden Town Hall. The ceremony was led by the Mayor of Camden, Cllr Nurul Islam.
Lee Pospiech, Steve Caroll and Cheryl Johnson worked with the police on Operation Spoor, which led to eight drug dealers being arrested and sentenced to more than 34 years in prison.
The trio collected the evidence showing drug deals taking place, which was vital in securing the convictions of the dealers.
Cllr James King, Executive Member, Community Safety, Camden Council, said: “I would like to commend the work of the CCTV operators who worked with the police to gather vital evidence. The Council and the police are committed to keeping drugs out of Camden Town, and this operation shows how working in partnership produces excellent results.”
Chief Superintendent Dominic Clout said: “This ceremony is
an opportunity for me to personally acknowledge those in the wider
Community Safety Partnership for their outstanding work. Their
support is essential if we are to make Camden a safer place to live
and work”.
