Local authors to sign books at tourist information centre

TODAY IN LOCAL GOVERNMENT

TWO local authors will be on hand to discuss their fascinating accounts of Richmond's history at a double book-signing session in the town.

Mike Wood and John Culpan will both be at Richmond Tourist Information Centre (TIC) from 11am on Saturday, July 19.

Mr Wood will be signing copies of his book The Friary, written to coincide with the 750th anniversary of the Franciscan Friary, remains of which can be seen in the towns Friary Gardens.

Mr Culpan will be signing The Life and Work of George Townsend Andrews his account of the life of the Victorian architect who designed Richmond Station and Richmond Bridge.

Copies of The Friary cost £2. The Life and Work of George Townsend Andrews costs £1.

TIC Manager Tina Coates said: "This is a wonderful opportunity to meet the experts and learn more about the fascinating history of Richmond. Even the most enthusiastic local historians might discover something new!"
