An NHS Care Assistant, who posed as a wheelchair user to cheat Harrow Council out of just over £100,000, is due to be sentenced today at Harrow Crown Court.

Council investigators found parallels with the Little Britain TV sketch 'Andy and Lou' in which one character pretends to be disabled whilst his friend takes care of him as they uncovered the case against 48 year-old Kato Solomon.

Mr Soloman, who helped people with mobility issues and had already pleaded guilty to using the pose to dishonestly defraud Harrow Council, over a three-and-a-half-year year period, out of nearly £26,000 in Housing and Council Tax Benefit as well as obtaining a council tenancy which had been specially adapted for disabled persons worth £75,000.

Councillor Paul Osborn, Portfolio Member for Strategy and Business Support said:
"This is like something out of Little Britain. Kato Solomon might of well had said 'I want that one' as he showed absolute contempt for those who actually need and deserve benefits.

"This morally bankrupt individual has effectively stolen, by deception, this specially designed home that could have been provided to the very same persons he was meant to look after.

"Harrow Council has a rigorous approach to preventing, detecting and acting on cases of fraud. This sends a stark warning to anyone thinking about committing fraud."
