BY harnessing the skills of its employees to help improve the business, City West Housing Trust has struck gold and achieved a top business accreditation.

The Salford-based housing association, which owns and manages 14,500 homes in the west of the city, has become one of only a handful of registered social landlords to receive a Gold Award from Investors in People.

The Investors in People Gold Award recognises that City West has been through a period of cultural transformation which puts its customers at the heart of everything it does, has a clear vision and strategy, is committed to developing its employees through training and education, leadership, reward and recognition and health and well-being.

Feedback praised City West on achieving a total of 146 evidence requirements, a minimum of 126 are needed to achieve the Gold, stating that this was a first class review.

Tim Doyle, Chief Executive of City West Housing Trust, said: “We’re delighted that City West has received this double success from Investors in People. It demonstrates that we are a company that is dedicated to continuously improving our performance, we are ambitious, forward thinking and extremely people focused – whether it is our customers or employees.

“We decided to apply for Investors in People Accreditation to recognise the good work we have achieved and the transformation of the business in just three years.”

This is a significant achievement – of the 24,000 organisations that hold the Investor in People standard only 1% have Gold, furthermore only 3% achieve Gold status on their first assessment.
