Lord Charles with residents at Bircherley Court
Riversmead residents at Bircherley Court in Hertford have welcomed Lord Charles Cecil, High Sheriff of Hertfordshire, to their home as part of his tour around flagship schemes in East Herts.
Along with Councillor Suzanne Rutland-Barsby, Chairman of East Herts Council, Lord Charles chatted with residents and their carers, who had just finished baking and decorating cakes for their afternoon quiz.
The guests then embarked on a tour of the new flexicare housing scheme’s one and two bed homes and facilities, including a doubled height, glazed atrium, hair and beauty salon, bathing spa, intranet area and roof top garden.
Lord Charles said: “I have had a wonderful visit to Bircherley Court– it’s very impressive. The collaboration between the residents, the architects and Riversmead has produced an outstanding building. I thought that the residents seemed blissfully happy here, so I congratulate everybody concerned.”
Chris Wright, Riversmead Housing Association’s Director of Housing, said: “It was a great honour to welcome Lord Charles and Councillor Suzanne Rutland-Barsby to Bircherley Court.
“The opportunity to showcase what we have achieved at the scheme is important, especially as we have just recently opened Bircherley Court after completing an £8.2 million redevelopment of the scheme into a flexicare housing scheme, which provides our residents with a home for life and tailored care and support to suit their needs.”
