Shoreline's Sleep Easy challenge

A team of Shoreline employees will be braving the cold and sleeping rough in support of Sleep Easy 2012.

Raising money for Grimsby and Cleethorpes YMCA - and awareness of youth homelessness, the twelve willing volunteers will bed down at Blundell Park – the home of Grimsby Town football club – for the overnight stay on Friday 3 February 2012.

Shoreline chief executive Tony Bramley said: “As the area’s largest social housing provider, we’re aware that homelessness is a growing problem and that it can happen to anyone. Many individuals find accommodation with us after experiencing hostel life.

“We really wanted to show our support to the local YMCA who provide a fantastic service, raise awareness and funds but also gain a real understanding of the conditions that homeless people face every day.

“We hope we can help the YMCA smash last year’s fundraising target and with less than a month to go we’ll be going all out to raise as much as we can.”

“Many young people leaving our hostels, having been supported by YMCA staff over several months, achieve their goal of independent living as they take up residence in Shoreline properties. 

“Our partners at Shoreline understand just how difficult it can be for young people, especially single young people, to get a home of their own.  It's by working together that we can get the best outcome for formerly homeless young people. 

“We're sure the team from Shoreline will enjoy the Sleep Easy challenge of sleeping rough so that others don't have to, and we're really grateful for their support."

The event will take place between 6.30pm on Friday 3 February 2012 and 6.30am Saturday 4 February 2012.
