The Wrekin Housing Trust has been shortlisted as a finalist in The National Housing Maintenance Forum (NHMF) Awards.

Each year, the NHMF recognises best practice in the maintenance of social housing.  The Wrekin Housing Trust has been shortlisted in the Best Client category, which honours organisations that best meet residents' maintenance needs.

The award was submitted by The Wrekin Housing Trust’s in-house Asset Management Consultancy, which manages a capital improvement programme of between approximately £12 and £15 million per year.  Over the last 10 years, the team has carried out over 50,000 individual major work improvements, including kitchens and bathrooms, doors and windows, heating and insulation, external refurbishment and ‘green’ technologies including solar panels and ground/air source heat pumps.

As part of their commitment to meeting residents’ needs, the organisation ensures tenants are involved in all stages of the planned programme work, from inception to completion.  The Trust also looks outside the social housing industry for fresh examples of best practice in customer-focused service.

As a result of the process improvements, the team has managed to increase customer satisfaction, find efficiency savings and carry out additional work.

The Trust is one of three organisations shortlisted for the award, and the best practice winner will be decided at the NHMF Maintenance Conference awards dinner on Tuesday January 24th.
