The Mayor, Councillor Bert Turner, has praised Wolverhampton Homes, its partners and suppliers at a special event held on Tuesday (6 December) for raising thousands of pounds for charity.
Thanks to their part in this year’s Carver marathon events, staff from Wolverhampton Homes, Thomas Vale, Bullock, Frank Haslam Milan, Travis Perkins, Tony Davis, GDC Group, DMW and The Dodd Group came together to raise £12,000 for the Mayor’s charities.
This money has been donated to the Mayor’s Charities, Compton Hospice, The Alzheimer's Society (Wolverhampton Branch) and the Acute Medical Ward for Dementia at New Cross Hospital.
The nine organisations also raised an additional £2,110 which has been donated to a number of smaller local charities.
Over the past three years the organisations have raised more than £35,000 for local charities.
The Mayor, Councillor Bert Turner, said: “The event was a chance to recognise the achievement and thank participants and sponsors for raising such a fantastic amount for worthy causes.
“It is very humbling to see both local people and companies being so generous in what are difficult economic times.”
Shaun Aldis, Director of Property Services at Wolverhampton Homes, who also took part in the cycling event, said: “Wolverhampton Homes is keen to do all that we can to support local charities.
“We have been overwhelmed by the generosity shown by our family and friends, colleagues and by our business partners.”
