Alongside world class international athletes, staff from the Trident Social Investment Group (TSIG) competed in this year's Birmingham half marathon  raising almost £400 for the QE Military Fund.

The Bupa Great Run in Birmingham is the Midlands leading half marathon and despite the motivation from the team representing the Trident Social Investment Group, they have all undergone a rigorous training programme over the last three months in readiness for the challenge.  This was the first taste of a professional half marathon for three members of the team, enabling them to demonstrate their commitment and perseverance for the good of the cause.

All members of the TSIG team are familiar with the biomechanics of running, as they have been building their stamina and technique in preparation.  This ensured that their running was energy efficient - minimising unnecessary movement, whilst reducing the chance of injury and it paid off - as three members achieved their personal best:

Tom Forty – 1hr 40 mins

Debbie Hanley and Scott Brookfield – 1hr 59 mins

Daniel Stachura – 2hrs 10 mins

Liam Smith – 2hrs 17 mins

Mirek Rachanski – 2hrs 27 mins

Sally Underwood and her partner Chris – 2hrs 45 mins

Debbie Hanley, Trident Social Investment Group’s Customer Services Manager said, ‘I love to run and I thought I wouldn’t be able to take part this year’s half marathon due to an injury I sustained in training, but I didn’t want to let my team down or all the Trident staff who supported us on the day.  Raising money for charity is always an incentive, and for fit and healthy people like us, the Bupa Run is a great opportunity to help those less fortunate.  We’re already looking forward to next year’s challenge’

John Morris, Trident Social Investment Group’s Chief Executive said, ‘I am really proud of the Trident Social Investment Group’s Customer Service team, every day they go above and beyond in delivering services to our tenants and they deserve credit for the resilience they’ve shown by training hard and competing in the Bupa Run. www.tridentsocialinvestmentgroup.com
