Thirty four people were given six-month work opportunities with a local housing association through the recent Future Jobs Fund (FJF) programme.
Ten of the group managed to acquire permanent posts and longer term employment with Nottingham Community Housing Association (NCHA) and its contractors, and 26 of the staff on the programme had their contracts extended for up to another six months.
NCHA employed people on the programme across a whole range of its services including, Social Care and Supported Housing, Energy Efficiency, Administration, Training , Finance, and Housing Services.
They were sited at locations across the East Midlands including Nottingham, Leicester, Shepshed, Northampton and Louth. Three people worked with NCHA's gardening contractors Ulyetts Landscapes and Horizon Landscapes in Blidworth and Nottingham.
As a result of the programme, over 75% of the FJF staff moved into jobs or further education.
Training and Employability Manager Richard Burke said "NCHA is delighted to have given this work opportunity to so many people. With the majority of the participants moving into longer-term employment, we feel the programme has been a great success in giving people a chance in these difficult times "
