Local housing association Riverside has handover of its 1000th home as part of the multi million pound Sandwell Private Finance Initiative at the Hawthorn Fields Estate, West Bromwich.
Riverside who manages the properties on behalf of Sandwell Council, has been working with contractor Mansell since 2006 on a 5 year programme to complete refurbishment of nearly 900 properties and rebuilt a further 201 new homes at the West Bromwich estate. The 1000th home handover marks the final phase of the refurbishment and rebuild works on the estate.
The home handover is that to 27 year-old tenant Monica Kruszka of Pembroke Road, who has moved into a new build two bedroom semi-detached home.
Monica previously lived in a one bedroom flat on the estate with her husband and two children. Monica said: “I’m so pleased to be able to move into a brand new home. We had outgrown our flat and needed more space for the children.”
Mansell presented Monica Kruszka with a garden slide for her two year-old son Alex, and representatives from Riverside and Sandwell Council were there to welcome Monica and her family to their new home.
