Garden makeover
30 March 2011
Residents of Colston Road in Devizes are enjoying the first signs of spring after receiving a garden makeover to spruce up the communal areas.
Sarsen Housing Association and City Estate Services have been working together on a community involvement project to encourage residents to take pride in their neighbourhood.
As part of the renovation, the entire communal garden area received a complete makeover, including a new seating area and shrubbery. Old pathways were also uncovered and pressure washed, and a new shrubbery was planted by the team.
Garry Kearley, caretaker at Sarsen, said: “The residents have helped us to make the garden area a pleasant place to spend time in and this is a good example of how working partnerships between Sarsen and a contractor can benefit the local community and improve our neighbourhoods.”
Devizes Town Council also helped out with the revamp by donating six decorative planters with pansies and primroses to provide some much needed colour.
City Estate’s Managing Director, David Stoyle, who funded the project, said: “It was great to see City Estates, Sarsen and the local residents getting involved and giving something back to their community to make a real positive difference to the environment they live in.”
