The company that provides essential gas servicing for St Georges Community Housing has been commended for improving services to Basildon’s council tenants and for achieving a 100% satisfaction rating.

The positive feedback came during a Basildon Council committee meeting on 18 January which was held to review the performance of key suppliers to St Georges Community Housing which manages 12,900 council properties.

ParGas was also praised for its response to the extreme weather conditions over the Christmas period which saw a record number of call outs and over 100 emergency fan heaters distributed to help keep tenants warm during repair works.

The company was employed by St Georges Community Housing in 2009 – however after receiving a number of complaints, the company underwent a review process with close scrutiny from tenant representatives and St Georges Service Improvement Committee. As a result of their intervention which involved monthly reporting and feedback to St Georges, ParGas is delivering a service that is exceeding targets and satisfying customers.

Customer satisfaction for Dec 2010 is 100% comprising 87.2% very satisfied and 12.8% satisfied residents. Gas servicing is now monitored each month over 32 service areas and tenants are consulted on any potential changes to the service.

John Mckay, tenant representative for St Georges Community Housing and also a member of the core group that monitors ParGas’ performance said: "The gas servicing works, they listen to us and will solve any problems. It is clear that ParGas have made significant improvements to their service as a result of listening to feedback from our tenants and they are now delivering an excellent service.”

George Kreuder, Chair of St Georges Community Housing Board said: “We have worked hard to make sure that ParGas meet the needs of our residents and deliver a high quality of service at the same time. With the help of resident representatives we have been able to monitor their progress and iron out any problems. We will continue to work with them to make further improvements and maintain the high level of service that we have established.”

Cllr Andrew Baggott, cabinet member for community and ALMO clienting, says:  “I am very pleased that ParGas have received a 100% satisfaction rating with our tenants and leaseholders.  It is very important that they have listened to various concerns, reviewed what they were doing and have subsequently improved, and are now delivering an excellent and quality service.”

St Georges Community Housing was established as an Arms Length Management Company (ALMO) in April 2007 and manages Basildon Council’s 12,900 homes and 5,900 garages. It works in partnership with the council and its residents to develop communities in which people are proud to live.
