Rob Weale was bowled over by his success in the 2010 Delhi Commonwealth Games, winning the gold medal for Wales in lawn bowls, making him the most successful bowler ever.
Rob started playing bowls at the age of 11 and has been involved in the sport ever since. He first started competing in the Commonwealth Games in 1986 and has since competed in a further 6 games winning 6 medals from the 7 games he’s competed in.
Colleagues at Herefordshire Housing celebrated Rob’s return this week. Previously crowned World Indoor Bowls champion, Rob said “I am obviously chuffed with my achievement in Delhi and it’s so pleasing to see the interest and support that has been generated. I couldn’t have done it without the support of Herefordshire Housing”
“It’s a great feeling standing on the podium and hearing the Welsh national anthem being played – it’s an overwhelming sense of pride.”
Peter Brown, Chief Executive said, “It’s a fantastic achievement. We support all colleagues to realise their potential so it’s great to see someone become a world beater.”
