Charlotte Moore, acclaimed author and writer of the highly regarded “Mind the gap” column in The Guardian, will be sharing her experiences with parents of children with autism in a live online Q&A on www.talkaboutautism.org.uk on 30 September.
Charlotte has two sons with autism and in her book, “George and Sam,” she describes the circumstances of their birth, behaviour, diagnosis - and brilliantly conveys what daily life is like for a family with autism. The live online Q&A will be a chance for her to hear from parents and carers across the country who are in a similar situation and to share experiences and support.
Charlotte said: “Every autistic person is unique, but we, the parents, have a great many experiences in common. It's often helpful, and always interesting, to share those experiences with others. That's why I'm really looking forward to taking part in the TreeHouse Q&A session”.
Mark Atkinson, Director of Communications, Policy & Research at TreeHouse, said: “We are delighted that Charlotte Moore is joining our www.talkaboutautism.org.uk community and are very much looking forward to hearing all about her experiences as a mother of two children with autism. The community has been going from strength to strength since it was launched and has given many people affected by autism – be they parents, carers, grandparents, siblings or those with autism themselves – the opportunity to share information and support with those who really understand their situations.”
Join Charlotte for the live online Q&A on Thursday 30 September 2010 from 1.30 PM - 2.30 PM BST by registering now at http://www.talkaboutautism.org.uk/community/live-qa-events/300910-charlotte-moore or for more information go to the event page on Facebook http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=150672151624762
