A woman who recently opened her very first business in Featherstone in West Yorkshire has said that Wakefield and District Housing (WDH) played a vital role in helping her to set up shop.
After agreeing terms with WDH to lease the commercial property, Kelly Grace anticipated that she would experience hold-ups and frustrations in getting the new hairdressing salon called Hair’s and Grace’s open, but says that WDH made the entire process a ‘smooth ride’.
“WDH made the whole experience very easy and have been excellent in their communication,” says Kelly. “Our WDH contact, Kate O’Malley in particular, has been absolutely fantastic in providing information when we needed it.
“There are all sorts of things you need to consider and information you need when setting up, such as business rates and important phone numbers, and Kate would not only get us the information – she would keep us in the loop of where we were at in terms of finalising the deal. It’s outstanding service.”
Situated on Wentbridge Road in Purston, the business was opened on Wednesday 1 September – which is when another great benefit of renting from WDH kicks in, says Kelly…
“The rent is very competitive, which is great for anyone setting up a business, let alone their very first business like I am!
“If anyone is looking for a commercial property so they can open a business, I would thoroughly recommend WDH because of the support they offer and the rates. They are great for business in Featherstone!”
Kate O’Malley agrees that WDH works hard to help get business moving in the area, and is pleased that Kelly will be supplying a much needed service in the area.
“It’s great that we can support a first-time business like this, but it’s also great that we will be filling a gap in the local community. Local tenants and residents will be getting a service that they have been missing for a short while.”
Kelly says she hopes that local residents will enjoy her friendly, talkative style and, of course, some excellent hairdressing.
“We’ve had a lot of interest already and I’m sure people will be interested in the offers on ladies and men’s cuts and styles, as well as some smashing deals that we are introducing. Local people have been really supportive and thanks to WDH we’ll now be able to offer them a great service.”
